Jana Kasalová re-evaluates our conventional understanding of space, relativizing its reality using cartography. Once recorded on a map, geopolitical developments were fixed in time while colourful historical events were inevitably reduced to points and lines. The cosmopolitan artist seeks to counter these established facts. The textuality and graphic appearance of her works provide an unsettling commentary on the fixed perspective adopted by the viewer.

Jana Kasalová also prepared an original project for Pro arte Gallery in reaction to Müller’s famous baroque map of Bohemia; by engaging in a cross-century dialogue with a parergon by Wenzel Lorenz Reiner, Jana Kasalová stands out as a distinctive conceptual artist of her generation.
