The Waiting Room exhibition presents Luboš Plný’s Medical Subject Matter Series. The featured collages were initially created in the early 1990s when Plný applied for studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.
Today, the intimate compositions, stylised as a statement made by a psychiatric ward patient, constitute evidence of the artist’s experiment whose method anticipates his current creative output. While in the past Luboš Plný focused on defragmenting the world around him, he is currently dedicated to exploring existence itself. In both cases he is involved in a search for an objective truth, whether by intentionally manipulating found objects or his own body.
Plný’s collages are accompanied by an underpainting by David Cajthaml. Thanks to his creation, the waiting room becomes a place outside time and space, a place of absolute artistic freedom. His signature style accentuates Luboš Plný’s own artistic statement.
