Working under the pseudonym of Jaromír 99, Jaromír Švejdík has been known above all as a musician, e.g. as a founding member of Priessnitz. However, he has gone on to make a name for himself as a creative and experimental artist with an impressive aesthetic reminiscent of both film noir and pop art.

His adaptation of the Alois Nebel graphic novel for film was an important moment in his career as an artist, as the captivating cinematic visuals successfully introduced his work to a wider audience. His subsequent projects, such as illustrations of Franz Kafka’s The Castle and Jan Novák’s Zátopek, strengthened his position on the art scene, where he is primarily perceived as an original and unique artist known chiefly for his papercut creations.
